About the Authors
Scott M. Haskins
Professional Art Conservator, Scott M. Haskins is considered an emergency preparedness expert for government, corporate and public art related matters since 1994. He is the author of the “Save Your Stuff” series, the most widely distributed preservation manuals for home-use in easy to understand language and entertaining format. He has worked in the US and Europe as a professional art conservator and preservation expert since 1975. His multimedia e-book, Save Your Stuff – Collection Care Tips, is distributed worldwide.
Mr. Haskins’ Save Your Stuff message includes family pets because they are part of the “uninsurable treasures” that can be a warm, comforting foundation of a family’s culture and heritage. They have been a part of his family for decades. His family cherishes the companionship of pets which also give so much emotional support, reduce stress levels, help relieve loneliness, help the family to interact more, add to a child’s self-esteem and promote positive emotional development. Diane L. Stevenett
Author – Artist, Diane L. Stevenett, was born in Alberta, Canada, the eldest of 9 siblings and grew up on a farm in the country where art, animals, music, family, community were the center of life. Diane began rescuing animals at an early age. Immersed in the farm life, she talks of bringing home pregnant stray dogs, cats, hiding and feeding baby pigs considered the runts, taking rubber bands off the tails of sheep thinking it was cruel, and always having a dog at her side, even throughout college.
Diane holds an MFA in sculpture, has owned three art galleries in California and is well known for 24 years of creative work as a Parade Artist featuring her giant sculptural ensembles, most more than 14 feet high, featuring scores of costumed participants, families & children.
Ms. Stevenett is a former Creative Arts Director and a County Arts Commissioner in Santa Barbara. She has also worked for many years as a mural conservation technician and disaster response treatment technician for Fine Art Conservation Laboratories in Santa Barbara, CA. She is also an award-winning singer, with a deep love for writing and storytelling. Diane Stevenett currently resides in Santa Barbara, CA.
